Angel Falls is an incredible and iconic waterfall located in Venezuela, specifically in the Canaima National Park in the Gran Sabana region. It is the tallest uninterrupted waterfall in the world, with a height of 3,212 feet and a continuous drop of 2,648 feet. The waterfall is named after Jimmy Angel, an American bush pilot who crash landed his four-seater airplane atop Auyantepui in 1937. Angel Falls is fed by the Churun River, and the falls cascade down the Auyán Tepui, a flat-topped mountain. In 1994, the Canaima National Park was named a World Heritage Site by UNESCO. Getting to Angel Falls can be quite an adventure. Most visitors access it by a combination of small aircraft, a 5 hour boat trip, and hikes. It’s a bucket-list destination for many nature lovers and adventurers!
